Meryam Magri
Master Research Intern, Summer 2020
Laval University – Institute of integrative biology and systems
Meryam Magri is currently in the second year Master in Bioinformatics at the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy of the Mohammed V University of Rabat, Morocco, she had a bachelor’s degree in Computer science at the teacher’s training college (ENS), Cadi Ayyad University of Marrakech, Morocco, in 2018 and she had also a diploma in networks and computer systems at The High Level Technician (BTS) of Safi, Morocco, in 2015. In parallel with her academic career, Meryam has many professional experiences such as teaching informatics in a high school. As a part of her end of study project and to improve her skills in the field of bioinformatics, she came for a research internship in the laboratory of Dr Abdel-Mawgoud of Synthetic Biology of the Institute of Integrative Biology and Systems (IBIS) of Laval University. Under the supervison of Dr Abdel-Mawgoud, she will work on the project “Metagenomic Data mining for the discovery of novel glycolipid biosurfactants" which aims at debottlenecking the route to discovery of new glycolipids by exploring the non-cultivable microorganisms using a revolutionary interdisciplinary approach involving metagenomics, bioinformatics, chemical synthetic biology, metabolomics and cheminformatics.
